PROJECT DIABETES 2022

Here is what we know about Diabetes;

Diabetes has type 1 and 2 variants.

According to medical experts and scientists, Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong condition in which your body can’t control the amount of
glucose (sugar) in your blood. In essence, your body can’t make a hormone called insulin.

On the other hand, Type 2 diabetes is a lifelong disease that prevents your body from using insulin the way it ought to use it. In
other words, your body type is insulin resistant.

Scientists generally believe Type 2 diabetes is caused by several factors including lifestyle factors and genes.

But here is what we don’t know;
While Scientists think Type 1 diabetes is caused by genes and environmental factors like viruses, that could trigger the disease,
they are yet to pinpoint what exactly causes Type 1 diabetes.

We recognize this phenomenon with great concern, and a sense of purpose and commitment to intervene no matter how little our
resources may be. We shall embark on an awareness campaign this year to educate people, partner with strategic stakeholders
and government agencies to create outreach programs on the subject matter. And hopefully change the narrative of ignorance,
lethargy, and institutional reluctance associated with attending to the disease before and after diagnosis.

So, join us this year 2022 as we push to shift the paradigm and change the narrative one step at a time
